Jobs With Justice is a national network of local coalitions comprised of labor unions, worker centers, community, faith-based, and student organizations. We work locally and nationally to reduce inequality by expanding opportunities for workers to organize and to bargain collectively. The national staff provides strategic support to nearly 25 autonomous local coalitions, builds networks on common issues, shapes public discourse and leads strategic campaigns to build power for working people. Position overview:
Federal Policy Analysts are responsible for planning and implementation of JWJ legislative, enforcement and judicial strategies that support and expand the ability of working people to organize and collectively bargain, especially on the federal level, although some state and local policy work will be part of the job as well. At JWJ, Federal Policy Analysts are encouraged to be creative, working closely with the Policy Director and organizing and other program staff, to support in national campaign development, engage partners related to campaign assignments and support the involvement of local coalitions, affiliates and partners in federal strategy development and enforcement. The position will report to the Policy Director, Adam Sham. This position will be located in the Washington, DC area.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute federal policy strategies that advance the organization’s goals and translates our priorities into actionable policy outcomes.
- Support and lead emerging work innovating, analyzing and testing new strategies to insert the JWJ Way into policy, particularly at the federal level.
- . Cultivate strategic relationships among important stakeholders, such as unions, other labor advocates, organizations working on federal policy, Capitol Hill offices, administrative agencies and the White House.
- Provide training and support for staff and leaders of JWJ local coalitions, affiliates and partners in developing campaign-
related policy and nurturing strategic relationships at the federal level.
- Incorporate staff and leaders of JWJ coalitions, affiliates and partners in decision-making and implementation of field strategies related to federal legislation/administrative campaigns.
- Respond to internal and external requests for information, policy, or analysis of specific legislation in coordination with JWJ policy team or communications staff.
- Write issue briefs, articles and memoranda on policy issues and policy-related best practices for JWJ.
- Provide information and technical assistance to staff. Provide policy analysis to committees, task forces, work groups that JWJ participates in.
- Support federal policy-related solidarity requests from partners, coordinating and aligning with relevant departments to implement solidarity actions.
- Brief relevant staff directors and campaign leads on policy developments that might impact decision-making and/or messaging.
- Represent the organization through lobbying and at events and other meetings relevant to policy and JWJ strategies.
- Support and sometimes lead cross functional teams to plan, coordinate, and deliver on strategic projects.
- Track and document progress within assigned policy campaigns, projects, and initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and post-graduate degree in related field, such as labor studies, political science, law, or public policy required.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working on policy campaigns
.post-graduate education can be substituted for 5 of those years.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead an effort to pass bipartisan pro-worker legislation at the federal level.
- Established relationships with unions, other labor advocates and allied organizations, Capitol Hill offices, and administrative agency staff.
- Experience with academic and/or professional organizations dedicated to developing scholars, researchers or practitioners in the policy or research fields.
- Strong understanding of the legal frameworks that govern worker issues.
- Excellent communication skills – writing, speaking, listening, advising – and political savvy.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize large amounts of information.
- Interest in government policy, programs, and cross‐system strategies at the state and national levels that support workers.
- Proven track record of staying up to date with current events, political developments, and emerging trends at the intersection of political science and labor issues to ensure the relevancy of research and analysis.
- Demonstrated commitment to racial and gender justice and the ability to apply an intersectional lens to economic justice.

Salary: Between $73205-$79,205 negotiated based on experience and in accordance with our collective bargaining agreement.

Duties & Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Lead overall fundraising strategy, including foundation and grassroots
- Lead foundation fundraising, including prospecting, funder relationships, and grant management (tracking, proposal writing and reporting)
- Cultivate philanthropic partnerships and serve as a thought leader with the funding community
- Oversee grassroots fundraising, including member dues, annual gala, sustaining donors, etc
Coalition Leadership & Organizing
- Manage relationships with coalition members (Steering Committee & E-board), including check-ins and conflict resolution
- Plan and lead coalition meetings, events, and member engagement
- Attend member actions and speak as appropriate
- Maintain strong relationships with external partners/allies
- Coordinate policy positions with members and the Legislative Committee
Strategy Development and Campaigning
- Build shared agenda and strategy across the coalition with E-board and Leadership Team
- Coordinate long- and short-term strategies, including campaign planning and responsive decision-making
- Ensure member participation in strategy, tactics, and campaign evaluation
- Represent JWJSF in media and movement spaces
- Support staff with campaign implementation
Organizational & Staff Management
- Ensure effective systems for HR policies, performance evaluations and compliance

Physical requirements

The Executive Director role offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with time both in the office and working remotely. JWJSF has offices in San Francisco (near Civic Center BART) and downtown Oakland (near 12th St BART). We regularly have in-person meetings and events in San Francisco, some of which take place in the evening and on weekends.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $110-122k, depending on experience. JWJSF offers an excellent benefits package currently including:

Grants Coordinator

North Bay Jobs with Justice (NBJwJ) is seeking a qualified candidate for this position. Position open until filled.
NBJwJ is a grassroots coalition of community and labor organizations building power and winning economic and racial justice on the frontlines of climate change in Sonoma, Napa and Marin Counties. NBJwJ is currently leading a multi-year strategic campaign in Sonoma County to improve the working conditions of immigrant and Indigenous farmworkers while also developing good off-season jobs in climate resilience work rooted in the workers’ own traditional ecological knowledge (TEK). We are affiliated with National Jobs with Justice and based in Santa Rosa, CA.
Position Summary:
The Grants Coordinator is responsible for identifying, securing, and managing public and philanthropic funding to support NBJwJ’s programs and campaigns. This role leads all aspects of grant development and compliance, while also supporting general fundraising and donor engagement, including NBJwJ’s monthly sustainer program and annual fundraiser. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to social, racial, and economic justice. The Grants Coordinator reports to the Just Transition Lead, with priority issues and campaigns set by the Executive Director and Executive Board.
General Responsibilities of the Grants Coordinator:
- Identify public and philanthropic funding opportunities through independent research, attending events and webinars, and communicating with partners
- Organize, draft and manage grant proposals, collaborating with staff and partner organizations to vet projects and develop successful and timely submissions
- Work with the Just Transition Lead to oversee all grant awards; manage deadlines and reporting requirements; track expenses and manage budgets; request and assemble financial documentation; track program data; fulfill all reporting requirements
- Lead all aspects of compliance with grant terms as well as state and federal regulations
- Work with bookkeeper on financial reporting and compliance related to grants
- Engage monthly sustainer program
- Maintain databases of current and prospective funders and grants
- Assist with annual fundraiser, specifically management of sponsors and donors
Key Qualities and Competencies:
- 3 years of relevant experience in grant prospecting, writing and management; budget management; or similar
- Strong commitment to worker justice and the labor movement, gender and racial justice, immigrant justice, climate justice, and an intersectional social movement
- Ability to work effectively & collaboratively within working class, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities
- Trustworthy and transparent
- Strong written and oral communication skills, multilingual including Spanish and/or Indigenous languages is ideal
- Effective time management skills with proven track record of developing, managing and being accountable to deadlines
- Proficient with standard applications including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Google (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar), Adobe Acrobat, Canva, etc.
- Willingness to attend or facilitate occasional worker-led meetings and events on evenings and weekends
- Willingness to travel throughout Sonoma, Marin, and Napa Counties and occasional travel to San Francisco and Oakland. Must have valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance by job start date
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Experience, education, and/or familiarity with climate resilience, vegetation management, restoration, and/or prescribed fire
- Experience managing state grants, government contracts, or other public funding sources

Compensation
