Benjamin Woods was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in political science at Howard University. His dissertation examines Black labor leaders and U.S. foreign policy in Africa. Ben received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and his master’s degree from Cornell University. Prior to his role at Jobs With Justice, Ben was a research intern with the Department of Professional Employees, a coalition of 22 “white collar” unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO. In addition to his professional and academic attainments, he has been a student and community organizer for over 10 years. He currently is helping to build the Black Workers Center in Washington D.C.
