ATLANTA, GA—On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, United States Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh will join the Advancing Black Strategists Initiative (ABSI) for a roundtable event at IUPAT District Council 77’s union hall on Black Labor Strategists. In addition to Secretary Walsh, the event will feature a variety of union and nonprofit leaders, those participating in the ABSI fellowship program, and more. The event will feature an engaging discussion on the current state of the labor movement in the South, the ability of workers—especially Black workers—to organize in the South, and how organizations, unions, and academics can help train the next generation of Black strategists and organizers to drive a larger conversation about our shared future.
This event is open to the press and the event will conclude with a press gaggle.
