Anita (she/her) became a Policy Organizer at Jobs With Justice in 2022 after her WILL Empower apprenticeship there. Before that, Anita was a Pre-K teacher for Chicago Public Schools and a proud Chicago Teachers’ Union member. She participated in the 11-day 2019 CTU strike as well as several COVID safety actions. Anita first started organizing in undergrad at Pomona College. There, she organized with fellow Resident Advisors and fought for BIPOC/LGBTQ inclusion in the choir. She also worked with the ACLU of SoCal helping public schools implement the CHYA sex-ed curriculum. Anita holds a B.A. in Public Policy Analysis-Psychology and an M.Ed in Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. She grew up in Claremont, CA, and currently lives in Washington, DC.
