Michaela is an organizer with the national office of Jobs With Justice. Raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Michaela moved to East Tennessee in 2014 to obtain a degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Michaela’s background includes grassroots work in public education advocacy, civic engagement, and electoral organizing. Michaela’s community organizing path started in college, with students’ rights and education equity. Most recently, Michaela served as the East Tennessee CROWD fellow for the Southern Coalition for Social Justice. During this time, Michaela led a Community-Led Redistricting campaign in the 2021 redistricting process as the Community Outreach Director for a local grassroots nonprofit in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Michaela’s commitment to this work stems from a deep-seated passion for helping build community power and resilience towards more dignified living conditions for all.
